    Originating in Holland, this breed is the progenitor of most modern dwarf rabbits. Created in the 1940s from the Polish breed and wild rabbits. ARBA-recognised 1969.

    Breeding recommendations
    • Highly energetic and 'spirited' or skittish; requires consistent handling from young age.
    • Small size (0.5–1.1 kg) requires secure enclosures; needs daily out-of-cage time.
    • Curious and active; toys and tunnels essential to prevent stress.
    • Does typically have very small litters, often only 2 kits.
    • Pet only — not commercially viable.
