  • Slow to mature; first mating at 6–10 months and not before.
  • Requires significantly larger cages — minimum 0.6 m² per breeder.
  • High risk of pododermatitis (sore hocks) on wire floors — provide solid resting mats.
  • Reproductive efficiency is lower than intensive meat hybrids — count on 4–5 litters/year.
  • Good for size-improvement crosses; rarely competitive as pure meat.
